Story consent terms

YOUR STORY IS NOT OUR INVENTORY.

These plain-language terms describe the V1 story process. The actual submission packet must capture the contributor’s choices and written approval before any material is published.

Before you send material

  • Request the packet first. Do not email your story, medical records, insurance documents, passwords, or sensitive identifiers.
  • Share only content you created or have permission to provide.
  • Do not identify or disclose private information about relatives, clinicians, employers, schools, or other people without appropriate permission.
  • Do not submit copyrighted photographs merely because you appear in them; the photographer or rights holder may own the copyright.

Your publication choices

The packet should allow full name, first-name-only, or approved pseudonym publication; location precision; image choices; accessibility descriptions; story category; and contact preference. TeamCrohns may decline a submission that cannot be published safely or accurately.

Editing and medical boundaries

TeamCrohns may edit for clarity, length, privacy, structure, accessibility, medical-claim boundaries, legal risk, and house style. It will not knowingly turn a contributor’s meaning into a treatment endorsement or miracle claim. The contributor receives the proposed final story and images for review.

Final approval

Nothing is published until the contributor gives written final approval to the exact edited material and identifies any approved photographs. Silence is not approval.

Permission to publish

The contributor grants TeamCrohns a nonexclusive, worldwide, royalty-free permission to reproduce, edit, format, display, distribute, archive, and promote the approved material in connection with TeamCrohns and the identified campaign or editorial package. The contributor keeps ownership of their original material unless a separate written agreement states otherwise.

No payment or medical endorsement

Unless a separate written agreement states otherwise, submission is voluntary and unpaid. Publication does not mean TeamCrohns endorses any product, provider, treatment, diagnosis, claim, or outcome described.

Corrections and withdrawal

A contributor may request correction or withdrawal by emailing [email protected]. TeamCrohns will make reasonable efforts to correct or remove material it controls after verifying the request. It cannot guarantee removal from search caches, archives, screenshots, social shares, reposts, or other third-party copies.

Privacy limits

Publication makes approved material public. Even a pseudonym may not prevent recognition. Contributors should consider future employment, insurance, family, safety, and personal consequences before approving publication.
